Summary of State Laws (Q1 & Q2 2020)

Effective July 1, 2020, employers cannot inquire about a job applicant’s criminal records on a job application. In addition, employers with 15 or more employees may not ask an applicant about the previous criminal activity before making a conditional employment offer. Employers may discuss the criminal record if voluntarily disclosed by the applicant during a job interview.
