A recent study conducted by SHRM (the Society for Human Resource Management) found that 79% of employers consider skills assessments to be more important than other hiring criteria. The research, released on August 15, 2022, also revealed that 56% of employers utilize pre-employment assessments to evaluate job applicants’ knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Understanding Skills-Based Hiring

Skills-based hiring, or competency-based hiring, assesses a candidate’s actual skills, knowledge, and competencies relevant to the job. Encourage cross-functional teams to participate in the assessment process to encourage varying perspectives and ensure the evaluation aligns with specific job requirements.

3. Provide Training

Skills-based hiring is said to be a forward-thinking approach that makes recruitment more accurate, efficient, and inclusive.
