We wanted to remind employers that the Washington Employee Free Choice Act was effective on June 5, 2024.
This means that employers can only mandate communications or mandate meetings that are necessary for the job or duties of their position. If there is another type of communication or meetings, employees can disregard them or attend voluntarily.
Employers should have updated their respective policies, practices, and procedures to include the changes, and should do it if they have not done so. Employers should also post the required notice in a conspicuous place as mandated by the law.
