Starting January 1, 2025, the protecter caregiver status goes into effect, which prevent employment discrimination based on family caregiving responsibilities and ensures employees are fairly treated or not retaliated against due to their caregiving duties.

Employers should implement policies that explicitly prohibit discrimination based on family caregiving responsibilities, ensuring that hiring, promotion, and other employment decisions are based solely on job performance and qualifications.
