Portland, Maine, Hazard Pay in Effect Until Further Notice

We wanted to remind employers that due to the declaration of emergency issued by Governor Mills on January 11, 2024, the minimum wage in the city of Portland is $22.50 per hour, until the state of emergency is lifted. 

  • It is recommended that employers adjust their paystub accordingly.
  • This hazard minimum wage rate does not apply if the employee is working from home.
  • Penalties for failing to provide said rate can accrue up to treble (triple) damages.
