We want to remind employers that, on January 8, 2025, the Federal Acquisition Regulatory (FAR) Council recently withdrew its proposed rule on Pay Equity and Transparency in Federal Contracting.
This proposed rule would have barred federal contractors from seeking or considering an applicant’s previous compensation history when making employment decisions, and mandated that they disclose compensation details in job postings for positions associated with federal contracts.
Citing limited time in the Biden administration and other priorities for finalization and implementation, the FAR Council withdrew the proposed rule. The decision was also influenced by numerous public comments and evolving industry practices.
