What happened?

On March 1, 2024, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) updated the guidelines for Respiratory Virus.

What are the details?

The main changes in the CDC guidance are:

  • Applies to individuals who contract respiratory illnesses including COVID-19, flu, and RSV, and no longer focuses on COVID-19 alone.
  • Eliminates the 5-day isolation requirement, and instead recommends a 1-day isolation.

This updated guidance is intended for community settings. There are no changes to respiratory virus guidance for healthcare settings.

Business Considerations

  • Conduct a review of your existing COVID-19 policies and procedures and make any appropriate changes to align with the updates.
