The CPPA Publishes Proposed Revisions to the CCPA Regulations

What happened?

On December 1, 2023, the California Privacy Protection Agency (Agency) published proposed revisions to the CCPA regulations as well as a chart explaining the proposed modifications.

What are the details?

The draft regulations were released in connection with the Agency’s December 8 board meeting

Besides the drafts for Automated Decision-making Technology (AI) Regulations, a revised draft for risk-assessment regulations and Cyber Security Audits, the proposed revision to the CCPA include a revision to definitions, practices, procedures, and others, such as but not limited to:

Business Considerations

  • Although not applicable or enforceable, it is a useful source of inspiration to supplement your policies, practices, and procedures with what the agency is debating.
  • Conduct an audit to see where possible weaknesses are and if the possible regulations aid in making more effective compliance.
